Everything you need to know about how I Just Voted works and how we handle your data
Last updated: June 15, 2026
1. About this platform
"I Just Voted" (the "Service", "we", "us", or "our") is an online polling and survey tool operated as part of justwishyou.com. The Service allows visitors to create simple public-opinion polls and cast votes on existing polls. It is provided for informational, entertainment, and community-engagement purposes and does not represent any government, electoral body, or official voting authority.
By accessing or using this Service, you agree to be bound by this Disclaimer, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use ("Policy"). If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the Service.
2. How voting works
To keep results fair, the Service requires email verification before a vote is counted. The voting process works as follows:
- Email verification (OTP): Before casting a vote, you must enter your email address and verify it using a one-time password (OTP) sent to that address. This confirms you have access to the email account you provide.
- One vote per email, per poll: Once a vote is cast, that email address cannot vote again on the same poll. This is enforced at the database level.
- Device fingerprint: A non-personally-identifying technical signature generated from your browser and device characteristics is also recorded as an additional safeguard against repeat votes from the same device.
- IP address: Logged for security, abuse-prevention, and fraud-detection purposes.
- Local browser storage: A small marker is stored in your browser to remember that you have voted on a particular poll, so the interface can show you results on repeat visits.
These measures are designed to provide a strong, reasonable level of duplicate-vote prevention based on verified email ownership. They are not infallible against determined abuse (for example, someone using multiple personal email addresses) and should not be relied upon for any purpose requiring certified, legally-binding vote counts.
3. Privacy policy
3.1 Information we collect
- Email address: Required to vote. Used to send a one-time verification code (OTP) and to enforce one vote per email per poll. Your email address is stored alongside your vote record in our database.
- Verification codes (OTP): A temporary 6-digit code is generated and emailed to you when you attempt to vote. Codes expire after 10 minutes and are deleted once used or expired.
- Technical data: IP address, device fingerprint hash, browser user-agent string, and timestamps associated with votes and poll creation.
- Poll content: Any poll questions, options, or text you submit when creating a poll.
- Usage data: Standard web server logs (pages visited, referring URLs, approximate access times) which may be collected automatically by our hosting provider.
We do not require names, phone numbers, physical addresses, government identifiers, or any other directly-identifying personal information beyond the email address needed to verify your vote.
3.2 How we use this information
- To send a one-time verification code (OTP) to confirm you control the email address you provide.
- To prevent duplicate voting by enforcing one vote per email address per poll.
- To detect and prevent automated, fraudulent, or abusive voting activity.
- To display aggregate, anonymous poll results (e.g., vote counts and percentages) — individual votes are not displayed publicly alongside email addresses.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
3.3 Email sending
Verification emails (OTPs) are sent via a third-party email delivery service (such as Gmail/Google Workspace SMTP). These providers process the email address and message content solely to deliver the verification email, under their own privacy and security policies.
3.4 Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or other information to third parties for marketing purposes. Technical data and email addresses described above may be processed by our hosting, database, and email-delivery providers solely to operate the Service, under standard confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
3.5 Data retention
Vote records (including email address, IP address, and device fingerprint hash) are retained for as long as the associated poll remains active and for a reasonable period afterward for fraud-prevention, record-keeping, and operational purposes. Unverified OTP codes are deleted automatically after expiry. Aggregate, anonymized poll results may be retained indefinitely.
3.6 Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or similar data-protection laws), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your email address and associated vote/technical data. To make such a request, please use the contact details in Section 10. Note that deleting your vote record may not be possible while a poll is still active, as it would compromise the one-vote-per-email integrity of that poll.
4. Cookies & local storage
This Service uses browser local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to remember which polls you have already voted on, so that the interface can show you results instead of the voting form on repeat visits. This data stays on your own device and is not transmitted to us except as part of the vote-verification request described in Section 2.
If this Service displays advertisements (for example, via Google AdSense) elsewhere on justwishyou.com, those advertising partners may independently set cookies or use similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so may cause the Service to show you the voting form again for a poll you already voted on; however, our server-side checks (Section 2) — including the one-vote-per-email enforcement — are designed to still prevent a duplicate vote from being counted.
5. User-generated content
Any user may create a poll, including its question text and answer options ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:
- You have the right to post it and it does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- It is not unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful, harassing, threatening, or otherwise objectionable;
- It does not impersonate any person or entity, and does not contain false statements presented as fact about real, identifiable individuals;
- It complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
We do not pre-screen poll content, but we reserve the right (without obligation) to review, edit, hide, or remove any poll or vote data at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason — including content that violates this Policy, applicable law, or third-party rights, or that we reasonably believe could expose us or others to liability.
If you believe a poll on this Service infringes your rights or violates applicable law, please contact us using the details in Section 10 with a description of the content and its location, and we will review it promptly.
6. Terms of use
6.1 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use bots, scripts, automated tools, temporary/disposable email services, VPN/proxy rotation, or any other technique to cast or attempt to cast multiple votes, or to interfere with the integrity of poll results;
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security or anti-fraud measure implemented by the Service, including the email OTP verification system;
- Provide an email address that you do not own or control, or impersonate another person when verifying your vote;
- Use the Service to harass, defame, threaten, or impersonate any person or organization;
- Upload or transmit any unlawful, infringing, or malicious content;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its normal operation.
6.2 No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service, or the OTP email delivery system, will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that poll results will be free from manipulation by third parties despite our anti-fraud measures.
6.3 Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, reputation, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service (including failure to receive an OTP email), even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
6.4 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators of this Service from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of this Policy or applicable law.
6.5 Governing law
This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable local laws, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
7. General disclaimer
- Polls hosted on this platform are created by users and reflect informal public opinion only. Results are not official, scientific, statistically representative, audited, or legally binding in any way, and must not be relied upon as such.
- Email OTP verification confirms ownership of an email address at the time of voting; it does not verify the real-world identity, age, location, or eligibility of the voter.
- We make no representations regarding the accuracy, completeness, neutrality, or appropriateness of any poll question, option, or result.
- This Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government, electoral commission, political party, or news organization, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
- Any opinions expressed through polls are those of the individual voters and do not represent the views of the Service operators.
8. Children's privacy
This Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because voting requires a valid, accessible email address, the Service is generally not practically usable by young children. If you believe a child has provided information to us through this Service, please contact us so we can take appropriate action, including deletion of such data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Disclaimer, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this Policy was last revised. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
